The Non-Transferred Plasma Generator
A plasma generator is a device for transforming electric energy into heat energy carried by a gas. ScanArc Plasma Technologies AB manufactures non-transferred, segmented type plasma generators in which a gas is heated by an electric arc to high temperature. The electric arc is established between tubular electrodes made of micro alloyed copper.

Arc Fuming (Open Bath sub-merged process)
This slag fuming process can be used for melting and reduction of various types of raw materials. The process has so far been applied to recover zinc oxide from steel plant dust in a plant with the estimated capacity 40,000 ton of dust per year.

Waste Gasification
The PyroArc process utilises the unique properties of plasma technology to achieve complete decomposition of organic substances and to transform them into a clean fuel gas. The process is suitable for nearly all types of waste including hazardous waste.

Dust Vitrification
A process developed for vitrification of fly ash from waste incineration (i.e. waste to heat processes). The fly ash is vitrified into a leach resistant slag and harmful substances like dioxins are decomposed in the process. The process is in use on semi-commercial basis in the test facilities at Hofors.

The Company will evaluate the market potential of this process, as one of the company's goals is to commercialise new processes based on the use of propriety technology. Fly ash is classified as hazardous waste, and has to be treated before deposited (the most common end treatment today).

Freon destruction
A process for complete destruction of Freon. The destruction is done under reducing conditions at a temperature of about 1,300ºC. The fluorine and chlorine form acids that are washed from the gas in a basic scrubber system.

ScanArc in Hofors is running a Freon destruction plant covering approximately 50% of the Swedish Freon market, however the plant has unused capacity.

The market for destruction of Freon is declining, and the Company will search for new applications for this process. The process should be well suited to treat e.g. liquid containing PCB.
